(1.4441, 316LVM)

It is in the class of austenitic stainless steels due to its high nickel content.
It is a special derivative of AISI 316L melted under vacuum. The high purity achieved in this way and its clean structure free of impurities allows it to be used in surgical applications. For this reason, apart from austenitic steel, it is also called medical steel.

Usage Area
It is used in the health industry such as surgical applications, implant materials, laboratory equipment. Bone crushing hand tools, Osteosyntheses, bone screws, nails.

Heat Treatment Condition
Due to its high nickel content, it is austenitic even at room temperature and therefore does not get hardness. High nickel and chromium content also provides high corrosion resistance.

Forging
It can be shaped between 850-1100oC.
