TALL® 909 / Alloy 909 / Incoloy 909 is a nickel-iron-cobalt alloy that possesses significant technical advantages such as constant low coefficient of thermal expansion, constant modulus of elasticity and high strength. The material, also called UNS N19909, is strengthened by a precipitation hardening heat treatment made possible by the additions of niobium and titanium. TALL® 909 / Alloy 909 / Incoloy 909, a combination of low expansion and high strength, is particularly useful for gas turbines. Low expansion allows closer control of clearances and tolerances for greater power output and fuel efficiency.

High strength increases strength-to-weight ratios for lower weight in aircraft engines. For these reasons, TALL® 909 / Alloy 909 / Incoloy 909 is used for gas turbine blades, housings, shafts and shrouds. TALL® 909 / Alloy 909 / Incoloy 909 is also used for rocket engine thrust chambers, ammunition hardware, springs, steam turbine bolts, gauge blocks and glass sealing applications.
