2.4632 / Alloy 90 / Nimonic Alloy 90 / 2.4969 is a nickel-chromium-cobalt base alloy reinforced by the addition of titanium and aluminum. It has been developed as a creep resistant alloy aged up to 920 ° C. Used for alloy turbine blades, discs, forgings, circlip sections and hot work tools. 2.4632 is a recommended filler metal for welding.
2.4632 / Alloy 90 / Nimonic 90 / 2.4969 must be fully heat treated for all machining operations. In this case, the high material hardness of 250-350 HV requires the use of solid processing techniques.
2.4632 / Alloy 90 / Nimonic Alloy 90 / 2.4969 sheet is easily joined by any of the resistance welding processes. Fusion welding with conventional processes is sufficient for a section thickness of about 5 mm. Above this thickness, micro-cracking may occur in the region affected by both the source and the heat. Electron beam, friction, inertia, and flash butt welding have been successfully applied to thicknesses greater than 5 mm. For nickel-based alloys, normal precautions should be taken and welded on solution-treated material. Post-weld heat treatment is required to obtain optimum properties.
